Wallphabet on Saska Kępa district

On Warsaw's Saska Kępa district, a typographic mural featuring an unconventional alphabet has taken shape. This is yet another project initiated and realised by Good Looking Studio, bringing the world of lettering closer to the public.

The wall painting is the result of a collaboration between the Good Looking Studio team and Danish artist Jakob Engberg, who works under the name Copenhagen Signs. The mural depicts the Latin alphabet in a lettering style known as "Architectural Script."

Only three colours of paint were used to create the piece. Equally worth noting is the way the mural was designed. The letters were painted with a brush, each stroke drawn in a single motion — no corrections. The alphabet also takes the form of a tutorial, showing viewers how to recreate it themselves. Individual strokes are accompanied by arrows indicating the direction of each brush movement that makes up each letter.

It's worth mentioning that the mural is part of a worldwide trend known as #wallphabet. Lettering enthusiasts — particularly those drawn to hand-painted styles — create alphabets on walls that showcase the beauty and variety of lettering styles. They also serve as an exercise in the craft of hand-painted lettering, which has a special place in the tradition of sign painting.

The mural is located on the façade of the building at 17 Grecka Street in the Saska Kępa district of Warsaw.
